Tammys road to recovery

Donation protected

After a tragic horse accident Tammy Ward and her family are looking at a long road to recovery.

Tammy was out moving horses from one field to another to put them away before the storm rolled in. She managed to get caught between some of the horses and wound up with two back feet to the face. Home alone she managed to make her way up to the house after coming to and called for help. " I thought I was dying" she told us.

This is a great example why you should always have someone with you while you are working with horses or at least let someone know that you are heading down to the barn. As much as we all love and trust our four legged friends they are still very large and things can happen in a split second.

Tammy was left with mulitple fractures in her face and jaw leaving her with the need for many facial reconstruction surgeys.

She has pulled through one surgey so far. After four long hours she came out with 7 metal plates holding her face in place. She still has a very long road to recovery.

Now on top of Tammy's injuries her and her husband Jim have lost their home to the wildfires in spokin lake.  Less than one month after being injured. They fire took everything leaving nothing to be salavaged and them to to start all over again. With no insurance to cover them they are headed down another very long path!

This has been a very hard and devistating few months for the Ward family and all of the compassion and  generosity of their community has been wonderful and greatly appreciated.

The family is looking for help and support for medical, travel and care expeneses as they will have to be in Kamloops for a while.  As well the family is now looking for donations to help them start over in a new home. They will need things such as beds, bedding, furniture, clothes, household items, tv etc as everything was lost in the fire. Anything anyone can to do to help will be greatly appreciated. The family would like every one to know how much all of their help and support has been appreciated.
