It's been a year. I've watched my business flounder, found a new temporary position, tried to help my spouse through a job search, and through it all I've continued putting off what I've been putting off for years now.
Namely, my own needs. So now I sit here years beyond when I should have taken care of my top surgery and probably in a worse situation than I was years ago when I should have first handled it and didn't want to because it felt selfish.
This may be why it's important to do so now. If I will pull one thing from the train wreckage of my life that 2020 has been... it's this. And while there is a part of me that wants to stubbornly do this on my own as I am forever loath to ask for any sort of help, I have some amazing friends that keep encouraging me to let them help.
And so here we are.
I have my consult scheduled for December 28th and need a $1000 downpayment at that consult to lock in both my surgery space and a $1000 discount on my surgery. So really, this like like throwing $1 in and making it work as $2 for the moment.
If you all for some unknown reason fully fund this and go above and beyond, the total cost for the surgery should be about $8,000. I'll do whatever I need to to get there, including loans and anything else. But since friends keep insisting they'd like to help, that's where the cards lay right now.
Anything you give is a little bit more I can spend on groceries and other necessities. It's a little bit more that I don't feel guilty about taking away from my family (as supportive as they are and have always been).
And for my friends who want to and are able to help, it's... a way to help even as much as I don't feel worthy of your friendship let alone any additional assistance. Thank you.
