DnD For Autism In The Classroom
Donation protected
Goal: To create a fun, inclusive learning environment for kids with autism to develop natural peer connections using dungeons and dragons as a learning tool.
Hello my name is Josh Barrieau, an Educational Assistant and I want to bring Dungeons and Dragons to the classroom. Over the past several years I have helping kids to learn to play Dungeons and Dragons. It has been an amazing learning experience and immensely rewarding. However, I have always struggled including kids with autism who may have a hard time with social interactions.
I had contacted Autism Nova Scotia after reading a news article about how they have had luck implementing DnD with kids with autism. Sure enough they got back to me right away and they had good news! They were developing a guidebook for to help develop social interactions using Dungeons and Dragons!
With this guidebook I hope to learn how to use Dungeons and Dragons to teach kids (with or without autism) how to connect with peers, develop interests, and most importantly have fun!
The start up costs for this program are 89.99 for the guidebook itself however, additonal resources are definetely needed for this program to be a success. Any additional funds over the first 89.99 will go to Player Guides, Dungeon Master Guides, Monster Manuals, Dice, battle mats etc.....
donations can also be e-transferred to [email redacted]. if anyone has a physical donation (dice, books etc) please email me and I can arrange to have them picked up
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and I hope I can count on your support.
