50-50 Scholarship Fundraiser

Donation protected
Turning 50 this year, I wanted to celebrate in a BIG way. Friends suggested traveling to an exotic locale, purchasing a luxury car, or following Cher's advice to "turn back time" with a luxury beauty treatment, but none of these celebrations would have satisfied me.  You see,  to me,  the BEST way to celebrate is by helping others, especially when I can gather friends and family together to join me, which is why I decided to celebrate turning 50 by starting a scholarship at College of Dupage.

If you know me, you know my passion is education.  In fact, in addition to turning 50, I am marking my 27th year as a teacher (my 19th year at COD), and whether I'm teaching in a traditional classroom, teaching online, coaching students in Forensics (speech and debate, not CSI), or giving workshops to future leaders, there is no greater joy for me than helping others develop their knowledge, skills, and opportunities.  You can understand, then, that providing financial support so education is accessible to future students is one of the best things I can do.

Since the passing of my parents, Ron and Lois Nivling, I have wanted to memorialize their memory through something about which they cared deeply.  They would be proud to have a scholarship to provide educational opportunity to future students.  I hope you will join me in raising $25,000.00 to create the Nivling Family Endowment (Nivling is my mom and dad's name).  This money will permanently sit in the COD Foundation and yield over $1000.00 to help support students.
