Treatment to Hopefully Save Ethan!

Ethan has been a fighter since the day he was born, we was born at 26 weeks weighing just 1lb 14 oz.  As small as he was his courage and strenth to fight kept him going!  After 4 months in the NICU Ethan came home a healthy and happy baby.  Ethan continued to grow with no signs of being a "micro" preemie, he excelled at everything he did.  He was as "normal" as any other kid his age.  When Ethan turned 3 everything changed.  One night he stopped breathing rushed to the ER with no known reason why he stopped breathing, this went on for two months, finally he was flown to Children's Hospital in Chicago where he was clinically diagnosed with Leigh's disease.  As of right now there isn't any cures or medicine for this disease and because Ethan is vent dependent he isnt eligible for any clinical trials.  With Leigh's disase children usually do not make it to 3 or most definitely not to teenage years!  After lots of research online and with other mothers of children with mitochondrial diseases, we hope that we have found a treatment that will hopefully save Ethans life!!  Ethan will soon be able to start Hyperbaric Treatment
which will hopefully save his life! With the cost of the treatments, the drive, the hotel fees, and the at home chamber they will need for Ethan to survive is astounding!! With your help the Slinkard family will be able to enjoy Ethan for much longer!  It is their dream to be able to hear their little boy talk again, to walk, eat, all on his own someday.....
