Help Karen Battle Cancer

A couple weeks ago our family was rocked with some hard news regarding our beloved Karen. She had been struggling for months with hip and leg pain, and decided to reach out for some answers after it began affecting her ability to drive and work in her salon. After a long week of testing and a 5 day stay at UVA Hospital, Karen was diagnosed with an aggressive endometrial cancer that metastasized to her brain.
She has finished 10 radiation treatments and has started an aggressive 9 week chemotherapy protocol. Unfortunately, due to her age, and being a small business owner, the options in the marketplace would have been over $2,200 a month for insurance , which was not doable. She opted for a Faith-based Healthshare plan at the beginning of this year that seemed as though it would help with emergencies and major health issues. However, her plan has now denied all requests for coverage and she will now be left with the responsibility of her medical bills with no help from "insurance". We are unsure of how much her stay at the hospital, the radiation treatments, 9 weeks of chemotherapy, and future treatments will cost, but we know it will be far more than 1 person can handle. We want Karen to be able to keep all she has worked so hard for and be able to continue her path of healing.
The love and support Karen and our family have received these past few weeks has been amazing and truly meant the world to all of us. We know how much Karen means to our family, but really have seen the impact she has made on all of you and her community over the past 18 years in her salon. Karen has expressed over and over how much she appreciates everyone’s love, help, meals, prayers, and positive vibes. We would be tremendously grateful for your continued support on Karen’s journey.
