Medical Bills

Hi! I had the wonderful luck to receive a new heart this past Saturday. But, my son is also going through a series of surgeries and of course the transplant procedure and bills after the fact are quite daunting. Any and all money we receive will be used to help with both mine and my 10 year old sons medical needs and bills.

I feel very strange asking for donations, but I know that there are people that want to help and we sure need it! Please, don't feel like you have to, a prayer works just as well.

I guess I should probably provide a little more info now that I see how this page works live.  My son is autistic and deaf, but he has had cochlear implants for years that he hears with.  But this past summer, he started developing what are called Colesteotomas in both ears.  These are dangerous growths that have to come out as they will completely fill the inner ear and grow up through the skull into the brain.  Needless to say, it is a very complicated surgery that now has occurred (the first stages at least) on both ears.  We are looking at probably another couple of big surgeries and maybe a few more small ones before all is said and done.  Right now he is missing one of his cochlear implants that will be reimplanted in June of this year.

On me...I have dealt with Heart Failure for years that really all dates back to a really bad case of Strep Throat when I was stationed in Germany in the Army.  I didn't know until just recently, that Strep will turn to Rheumatic Fever and it attached and destroyed my aortic heart vavle.  The Army replaced the valve with a metal one and retired me, but unfortunately, there had already been permanent damage done to the heart muscle.  I had a long run at being stable until a couple of years ago.  Before the surgery this past Saturday morning, I was constantly pale or gray skinned and my toes and fingers were always freezing from no blood flow.  The fatigue that I faced on a daily basis can only be described as bone crushing.  The first thing I have heard from everybody that has seen me since the surgery is how alive and pink my skin is now!  And I'm not freezing anymore.  I have been truly lucky with an amazing recovery so far and will be going home tomorrow!  I honestly believe in my heart that this is because of all of the prayers being lifted up on me from all over the world.  I have a future to look forward to again and I am very grateful.
