Help for Blake Donegan
Please help us raise funds to help a local family stay in their home. Blake Donegan (18) suffers from Niemann Pick C disease, a degenerative, neurologic disorder that affects his ability to walk, talk, swallow, eat, and remember. This disease causes frequent seizures throughout the day & night which are extremely painful and frightening for him and those around him. Blake has lost his ability to talk but for a few words, yet he still manages to laugh when you talk with him. This awful disease is taking Blake from us, a little more every day. It's so painful to watch as it destroys his life.
Blake's mother, Angela Donegan, has been fierce in her
independent care for Blake and her 3 other children. But the time has come where she needs
help from others. Blake is now at a
point where Angela can no longer work because he requires constant care. As a single mother, she receives nominal
child support income while Blake receives a small amount from Social Security,
but this does not cover their house payment, utilities, food expenses, and the
cost of Blake's medical supplies and medicines.
Blake is a much loved young man and has attended school at Ogden, Park, LTHS, and is a St. Francis Xavier parishioner. He was voted both King of Hearts (LT's turnabout dance) and Prom King. He is happiest when his many friends come back from college to visit with him. He just wants to be a normal kid.
The family is now in danger of losing their home and the
doctors have advised that moving Blake will be extremely detrimental to his
already fragile health. There is no cure
for this disease.
