Leillee's Butterfly Project
Donation protected
As many of you know, our precious Leillee passed away on
January 1, 2014 at Dell Children's Hospital.
Throughout her short time on this earth, she was an inspiration to many
and her beautiful smile captured the hearts of everyone who came in her path. Our baby girl drove us to be better and to enjoy
every moment of life. Because of her, we
knew that as physicians, we wanted to make the lives of other children so much
better and to help heal children in the most underserved areas of the
world. Babak and I are passionate about
children and helping them to receive the medical care that they need. From the time of our medical training, we
knew that at some point in our lives we would be part of a program that would aid
children with medical ailments. A few
months ago, we came to find out about the Heal Kenya program at Dell Children's
hospital. This grassroots program seeks
to set up medical services for pediatric patients in extremely rural and
underserved areas of Kenya to serve children who are ailing and who have no
means to medical care. After losing our
precious Leillee, we decided that we wanted her spirit to go on forever and the
way to do this would be to help other children heal from illnesses that would
otherwise go untreated. Therefore, in
our Leillee's name, we hope to take part in the Heal Kenya mission with
Leillee's Butterfly project. This
project would help to treat lower extremity conditions in pediatric patients as
part of the Heal Kenya program. Our hope
is to build a clinic within the Kenya project that will eventually have
surgical wards so that all children with ailments that need surgical care may
be addressed. In this way, we hope to
honor our daughter's memory and legacy.
Even though our precious daughter did not have the opportunity to leave
the hospital and walk with us hand in hand, we hope to give other children this
chance with their parents. Through them,
her spirit will remain alive forever and their lives will experience a
metamorphosis unlike any other.
In Leillee's memory, we are asking for donations to be made in her name to Heal Kenya/Leillee's Butterfly Project for an upcoming trip. In an attempt to decipher the specific needs in Kenya, I hope to travel to Kenya with the Heal Kenya group for the first time this April 2014. On this trip, I hope to not only be able to see patients but to also evaluate what needs to be done in the coming year to meet the goals of setting up a clinic/ surgical ward in Leillee's memory. We would appreciate any help that you might be able to provide in this matter and are thankful for your continued thoughts and prayers. Our Leillee's bright light will shine with us each and every day, and we hope that her spirit with allow us to help other children spread their wings and fly.
