Hello Friends and Family! As many of you are aware, both Jacob & I were part of a medical missions trip to Guatemala last year. The trip proved to be so much more than we could have imagined. Most people were struggling to meet their basic daily needs, but they were still cheerful and so resilient. They truly have a special place in our hearts. The team that we traveled with delivered so much more than medications and supplies; we were able to deliver love, compassion, and hope to families and communities that all too often feel forgotten or have a sense of hopelessness. This year we’re going back and we’re bringing the rest of the family. We will be staying on-site of a local orphanage assisting with several projects that will help improve the quality of life for the children and caregivers. Additionally, we will be installing several stoves for local families that will reduce smoke and fire-related injuries as well as reducing the amount of firewood a family consumes by approximately 70%. We have scheduled a one-day clinic with a focus on dental extractions and vision screening. The trip is Friday, December 28th, through Friday, January 4th. As you can imagine, there are many things we will need to prepare for the trip. Supplies will include everything from reading glasses to medical supplies for the clinic in addition to supplies that will be purchased there. We are asking for your assistance to raise money for expenses with the trip as well as supplies that will be used or left behind to help equip the orphanage and local practitioners after we leave.
