Cornerstone Christian Academy is thriving and growing! CCA opened its doors to 21 students in the fall of 2006. Since then, we have seen the Lord's blessing in many areas of the ministry. Most notably, the school moved into its own facility in the fall of 2012 with a student body of 45. Up until that point, a local church had graciously leased its classroom space to Cornerstone. The new school building is bright and beautiful with plenty of outdoor space for playgrounds and a soccer field. As was expected, the relocation brought many new students to CCA. We are currently serving 81 students in grades Pre-K through 10 with plans to add grades 11 and 12 in the fall of 2014. God is good! There is truly a need for this school in our area.
One of our goals in 2014 is to establish an Annual Fund to bridge the gap between our actual operating expenses and tuition revenue. Our desire is to continue offering Christian education at a level of tuition that is affordable for the average family in central Aroostook County. This means that, at present, our tuition revenue covers approximately 45% of our operating expenses while fundraisers and our after-school program cover another 9%. This leaves a gap of 46% for which we rely on gifts and donations from individuals, local businesses, and churches. We are extremely humbled and grateful to those who generously support our ministry but there is still a large amount of funds to be raised in order to completely bridge the gap for this fiscal year. This is where the Annual Fund comes in.
