Aries Cotton kick cancer fund

Donation protected
This fundraiser is for Aries Cotton from Greenville, MS. Aries Cotton is a twelve-year old young man 8th grader who attends St. Joseph High School. Aries had been having night sweats and started having a loss of appetite. For a few days, Aries had headaches as well, so I took him to see the doctor. The doctor prescribed him Z-Pack antibiotics. Aries then passed out a week later during football practice. The doctor did blood work and discovered that Aries had an abnormal blood count, very low immune system, and a swollen spleen. The doctor called the children’s entomologist/hematologist, but the appointment was set for 2 weeks because there was no earlier appointment available.

On Friday, October 6, 2017, Aries was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia (Cancer). Monday, October 9, 2017, Aries had surgery where a chemo-portal was placed in his chest. A biopsy was done on Aries’ bone marrow to determine how many cancer cells was in Aries’ bone marrow. Also, Aries had a spinal tap done to check to see if any cancer cells had traveled to his brain. Aries has 85% cancer cells in his bone marrow, but no cancer cells were found in his brain.

Because of the type of chromosome, the Philadelphia Chromosome, that Aries' cancer has, Aries must take a chemo pill that has a costly copay after insurance. The Philadelphia chromosome causes its patient to have a bone marrow transplant. Studies has proven for the past ten years that the chemo pills protect the bone marrow. The funds will cover travel and medical expenses during his treatments and recovery from cancer. Aries must travel from 1 to 4 days each week for Induction A. Because of the many medicines that Aries must take and me, Aries’ mother, not being employed, finances has been a great strain on our family. Because of our travels to Jackson, MS, weekly, I am unable to work. We are trying to get stable because Reggie, who is my other son at home, is a senior in high school. Aries’ treatment is taking away from my finances for his senior year.
