<div>Courtney is finally home and recovering from a massive surgery. She endured a 6 hour long process. I can’t even describe the pain she’s in. If you’ve had a C-section or any abdominal surgery you can imagine the lack of mobility she is having. She has months of recovery from this. Staples running from her chest to her hip bone and assistance needed in and out of bed.She sends huge hugs and thank you’s to prayers and support last week!

<div>The Oncologists removed a huge tumor and her gallbladder. They did not have to remove any liver!
</div>

<div>So, now her team of doctors are continuing the biopsies and she will then need PET scans to find what has been the cancerous host of this tumor and what it’s been living on this whole time because during surgery, they couldn’t find the host.The Oncology team says they have never seen anything like this. The doctors still need to find the host of what the tumor was feeding off of. They also need to give Courtney’s body time to calm down from the time they spent searching for the host.

<div>The positive side -the massive tumor was successfully removed and she was able to keep 100 percent of her liver.

<div>The negative side -the host was not found and a perfectly healthy gallbladder had to be removed.

<div>On June 2, 2023 Courtney was met with an oncologist and given unthinkable news of having Adenocarcinomas cancer on her gallbladder and part of her liver. Her surgery is scheduled on Wednesday June 21, 2023. The removal of the tumor is very complex and a biopsy will then determine the stage of the cancer and if it has spread further than her liver. No matter the surgery outcome courtney and her family will have to endure her going through chemotherapy or radiation. This donation page will be used for any medical expenses beyond insurance coverage, unpaid time off,basic needs for her daughter and hopefully support for recovery. I realize we have set a high goal-but any donation is appreciated even 5$.

<div>In 2017- Courtney became one of my best friends while working at MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility. As I’m sure many of you are aware, she’s a single mother to an amazing young lady, Sunaya who is 15 years old. If you’ve had the pleasure of meeting her Sunny, she has been raised by Courtney to be one of the most kind, honest, respectful and outgoing kids. Courtney works hours of overtime and sometimes two full time jobs to ensure a future for her daughter in sports and college. If you know Courtney motherhood is everything to her and she takes pride in her parenting and has shared more than once that her daughter is her heartbeat.
