kaylee alexandra macintyre, known to most as kaylee bear; was diagnosed with aplastic anemia in march of 2012. this is a rare blood disease that causes bone marrow failure. since this nightmare began kaylee has been through so much. she has had numerous surgeries and biopsies, too many to count blood and platelet transfusions. she has had 2 very intense rounds of immunosuppressive drug therapy (atgam). sadly those treatments have failed and kaylee's only option is a bone marrow transplant. throughout this whole nightmare kaylee has been so brave and so strong! always taking on each challenge with a smile and keeping everyone's spirits around her soaring. she is an amazing little princess who lights up a room as soon as she walks in. she is always looking for a snuggle, as she has declared herself " the best snuggler ever!" kaylee is in grade 1 at bras d'or elementary school. she is the only child of barry and patricia macintyre of bras d'or. it has been almost 2 years since their nightmare began. patricia has been on leave from her job at breton ability center, previously known as braemore home in sydney river; since time of diagnosis. barry works for northern contracting ltd. he will be on leave soon to support his princess and wife through this difficult time. this family has already been through so much. traveling to the cape breton regional hospital a few times a week, also numerous trips to the iwk in halifax and now they will be traveling to toronto sick kids hospital in toronto. after transplant this family will have to live in toronto for an unknown period of time and also they will have to live in halifax for a period of time to be close to the iwk and the specialists there. this will be a long hard road for the macintyre's, but with the support of family, friends and community, they believe kaylee will rock this transplant and get back to being a kid again! this is a registered, secure website where you can safely donate to kaylee and her family. god bless and remember every little bit counts and it all adds up! thank you so much for supporting kaylee on her journey to getting her life back! xoxo
