Karen's Medical Fund

About 2 years ago my dear, sweet friend Karen was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. She has battled through chemotherapy, which made her very sick, hairloss  and surgery but after a brief 11 month break from treatment her cancer started spreading again. Karen went through another round of chemo, which didn't work as hoped, while she was waiting to start a new treatment.  Once the Dr. decided she was eligible for a  new drug trial, Phase 2 immunotherapy treatment, and she was ready to start, her insurance company was battling with the hospital over cost. All the while her tumor marker number(CA125) is up to 554(normal is 0-30). Then the state agency accidentally canceled her insurance plan. After a lot of calls and leg work she was able to get a new plan that would allow her to get the treatment she so desperately needs. The new insurance plan is going to cost her $722.13 a month on top of a $3500.00 deductable per year.  Anything you can give would help her along this journey. The money would take a lot of pressure off of her so she can focus all of her energy on staying healthy as long as the good Lord wills it.

Karen is a very special person, she is the mother of two boys, which she has raised on her own. She also has been a nurse for 35 years. She has cared for those with addiction, at the  end of life, and worked with special needs children in their homes this includes my daughter. She has done foster care for 17 years helping so many children when they needed someone in their corner.She has spent her life helping those that needed it never asking for anything.  She is someone we would all be blessed to have in our lives. Thank you for contributing and God bless you.
