A Perfect Storm

Hello all, 

This week has culminated in a pretty rough situation, my car actually on fire.

So many small details that turned into huge problems have left me in a rough situation and no possible path towards a new vehicle.


I have had a hard go of it with my Subaru.  I’ve been battling engine issues and oil leaks.  I recently had to invest more dollars to keep it road worthy, despite replacing the head gaskets, timing belt and steering column. A never ending parade of issues.

Last night, on my commute home after a 10 hour day, a new sound started, like slapping of a belt.  I was close enough to an exit, I tried to make it slowly to a gas station. About a mile away, a bigger more nail-in-the-coffin sound happened, to which I promptly pulled over.  Some smoke from the engine, was it a radiator issue? No, I opened the hood, and there were flames. An angel of a human, pulled off the highway when I did and had an extinguisher in his car.  He put out the fire, what a hero! He saw fire under my car as he passed me and pulled over. Freaking on fire. After the fire department and cops left, my car tragically on the bed of a tow truck, I am car-less, BUT safe.  Bruce switched a few shifts to lend me his car til the end of the week.
Monday, we both need to get to work, after all.


Dear sweet car insurance is not offering any money or any actual help in the time. Nada.
I can’t scrap the car because I switched my car to NY plates and haven’t received my new title in the mail! Seriously.
I have to cover all the cost of towing and oil clean up on both the highway and tow truck.


So. I’m reaching out.

I’m asking for help with a down-payment on a car and a little extra for taxes and fees.
Literally anything will help.
I have to figure out a solution this weekend.
