As many of you might know, I am a sophomore at the University of Kentucky and a Spanish major there in the hopes of becoming a high school Spanish teacher. Also, I am involved in the Christian ministry of Young Life as a leader at Tates Creek High School. These are my passions and what I love doing. After visiting Mexico in 2009 with my sister, I absolutely fell in love with the culture and the language and knew that was what I wanted to do. One day, I would love to travel and be able to share my Spanish and my love for Jesus throughout the world. But you have to start somewhere, right?

As 2014 approached, I came to the realization that I am a person who says that I'll do things, but then never follow through with them. So, with the new year upon us, the Lord put it on my heart to work on that this year. I am turning my "I wish" into "I will" and I'm eagerly saying "YES!" to adventure! I know the Lord wants to use me for His glory this summer and two great opportunities came up!

From June 14th to June 21st, I will be serving in Honduras with Riverside Baptist Church through the missions organization of "El Ayudante" to help install water filters into homes, go to schools to help dentists do fluoride treatments, and working with local churches and orphanages. The cost of this trip is $1,400, not including getting my passport. If you'd like to know more about El Ayudante, click here!

Also, from July 19th to August 10th, I will be volunteering at a summer camp through the Christian organization of Young Life, which many of you know, I am a leader for in Lexington, KY. Young Life has been a great tool that has strengthened my walk with Christ and I would love to be able to serve other students for a month in a way of giving back and to make their camp experience as great as mine was. This trip is free, except for transportation to and from, which is looking like it will be between $300-$400. I have not been told what camp I am chosen for yet, but it will either be in Colorado or North Carolina!

Friends, I cannot do this without you! I am so excited to see what these new experiences have in store for me, but I firmly believe that I will walk away from them encouraged, inspired, and transformed more and more into who the Lord calls me to be. I know the Lord will provide abundantly in ways I cannot understand to get me to these places. Although I am anxious about these trips, I will not let fears and doubts get in my head.
