McCarty Medical Fund

This page and fund has been set up to offer support for Danny and Donita McCarty while they face some difficult times. Not all of us have the means to help financially so this is also a place for words of encouragement.


For the past couple of months Danny has been having pain in the abdomen. Several visits to the doctor were made. Late December he got results that he has bladder cancer. Chemo is not an option; surgery to remove his bladder and prostate must be done. Before making any final decisions, Danny and Donita went up to Portland to OHSU, but their diagnosis was the same. Since his diagnosis with bladder cancer he has been in and out of the ER due to excruciating pain. Meds give him some relief but it keeps coming back. After the CT results some of the pain may be due to the fact that the cancer is trying to move to the Ureter. OHSU has been able to get Danny into surgery fairly quick, January 24^th. He will be in the hospital for seven days and the recovery time from the surgery will be anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks.

Danny and Donita have accumulated quite a few doctors' bills already. Then add the cost of surgery, the lengthy hospital stay and all the after-care he will need. The medical bills are going to be quite substantial. Having no insurance and having to miss so much work, adds more difficulties for them to face. They never ask for anything, even when in need. With what they are going through, finances can just add more stress that they do not need at this time. We may not be able to help with the health issues but we are able to try and ease the financial burdens that they are enduring.

Danny and Donita are the most caring, loving and generous people that I have ever had the privilege of knowing. They are the kind of people who put others before themselves, without even thinking about it. They both have such generous spirits and give so much to others when they see someone in need. Now is the time we ask for others to do the same for them. Their two grown kids help them out tremendously, but they have their own families and can only do so much.

Danny and Donita have a long road of recovery ahead of them to get through. Please help us bless this family during their difficult times. Any amount is appreciated and will definitely help in their time of need, allowing them to focus on healing.
