Help my sister after medical emergency

My beautiful sister Mary has always been the caregiver in the family, now she is the one who needs help. She selflessly nursed and attended her fiance after he was diagnosed twice with stage 4 Squamous Cell Carcinoma 2 years ago. Financially they took a huge hit as he was unable to work, and she took time off to be with him.

On December 10th of this year, Mary was admitted into the University of Iowa Hospitals with a perforated bowel. They did emergency surgery and she had a very large open incision in her stomach. We finally got her home on December 18th and she was doing well we thought. January 6th she was re-admitted with a 106 temp and spent another week in ICU. Last night, Jan 18th back at hospital, had to do another emergency surgery because of 2 large abcesses in her colon and another perforation. This time the removed the Sigmoid colon and had to put in a colostomy bag. Sadly they also had to re-open the large wound on her stomach again.


She has no income right now, she is unable to work and won't be able to work for months to come. Up until this time she had always had a full time job in the medical field. Any savings she had was exhausted with her fiance's cancer recovery.


We are in the process of trying to get her disability but that could be months before it is in place.


Any small amount would help them. The drive to the hospital & parking fees are around $20.00 a day for her fiance, not to mention they still has a mortgage to cover each month. The last thing either of them need is their home going into forclosure. They both have been through so much, but their devotion and love for each other remains solid. They just need a little help at this time and finances are the last thing she needs to worry about.
