Cockle man Nottingham

Donation protected
Nottingham's veteran Cockle Man said he could be forced to pack it in in the next four months because of a hip injury.

Dave Bartram, 71, has been selling shellfish at the city's pubs for the past 57 years and has soldiered on through the death of his wife, a mugging and a shock cancer scare.

But in April he fell and broke his hip and, although he is back on his feet, his doctors have told him he has to stop putting so much strain on it.

The Ruddington resident said stopping now would "be the end of him" and is looking for a sponsor or kind garage to provide a car so he can keep going.

He said: "I have been told my hip won't make it. After the fall I was in hospital and then at home and couldn't do anything and it was bad. It's like being in prison.

"Stopping would finish me.

So people we need your help for our one and only Cockle man of Nottingham . We need to raise funds for an automatic car so he can continue the great job he does.
