Hello to all my family and friends, and to those I have not met yet. This is probably the HARDEST thing I have ever had to do....asking for help is not an easy thing, but I have no other choice. For those of you that do not know me, my name is lori. In the pic is my fiance,Ken and 2 children; Miranda & Shayne. Much like many people extreme financial hardship has hit VERY close to home. I am a Registered Nurse and worked in an Oncology unit for years and I LOVED my job! Over the last 20-24 months, I have had to have 2 major lumbar surgeries with a 3rd one in late February. This has left me "on and off" from work. I am currently not working and my long term disability company will no longer "carry me" even though I have a scheduled surgery coming up. I have not just "sat around" since being off, I first became very interested in making handmade jewelry and enjoyed it so much,I tried to sell it at local craft shows and church functions. I enjoyed doing this, however, it did not bring in the "extra cash" to keep our heads above water. Now, I am enrolled as a full-time student working towards my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with only 5 more classes to go in hopes of landing a great job upon completing my recovery period after my surgery. We were doing "ok" until Ken was found to have 3 tumors/abnormalities growing in his spinal cord. He also will require surgery and is not able to be released to return to his job as a salesman. We do not have a "set date" for his surgery as of yet and his surgical team is still debating whether to try to even remove them as there is a strong possibility, the outcomes of the surgery would be worse than before he went in. The level of the spinal canal that these involve are at T-12/L1 which control bowel/bladder function. With that being said, now you may understand why the surgeons are apprehensive to operate. As I said, in the meantime, he is not able to work either. We have exhausted all and any resources that we had set aside and have fallen 3 months behind on our mortgage. Foreclosure is now being threatened and we fear that we may lose our family home before I am able to return to work and start earning an income again. No one has ANY idea how hard this is for me to do and tears of shame, fear, and embarrassment are streaming down my face as I type this. We just need a little help to get us through the next few months. I know God has a plan for us, and I have faith in him, I just hope his plan involves our kids being able to stay in the house they call home. Thank you all for listening.Sincerely, Ken, Lori, Miranda & Shayne
