Anthony For Life

We are writing on behalf of our cousin, Anthony Anupam D’Costa, who is 31 years old and lives in Kolkata, India.  Anthony is a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend to many!  On Tuesday, August 7th Anthony had completed a day like many others before – he went to work, went to the gym, and spent the evening at home with his family.  It was later that night that he began experiencing numbness in his leg.  After being rushed to the hospital, the doctors gave us devastating news…Anthony was diagnosed with brain hemorrhage (bleeding in his brain) and required immediate surgery.  The initial surgery was successful, but he was put into a medically induced coma because there was fear that the bleeding could start again.  Since August 8th, Anthony has been in and out of coma and has struggled with breathing when not on a ventilation machine.  His elderly parents and sister wait in the hospital lobby each and every hour for any sign that his condition will change for the better.

Our family has put all of our faith in God and we trust in His power to heal.  We also recognize that God uses doctors and hospital staff as His instruments in the healing process.  It is necessary that Anthony remains in the Intensive Care Unit where he can receive the best care from top Neurologists and nurses.  And the medical experts advise that he could require this care for the next many days and even months.  

This care comes at the price of 95,000 Indian Rupees per day (which is about $1,400 US dollars per day (£1,081/day)).  The doctors believe that Anthony will need to be in the hospital for three to six months.  Our goal is to help his family cover the initial three months of medical expenses, which is about $125,000 USD.

We continue to gather resources across our family members because there is nothing more valuable to us than seeing Anthony re-gain his full health and return to be the young, kind, loving, and faithful man that he has always been. Anthony is someone who does a lot for the local community and the church. It is with a hopeful heart that we ask for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
