IN THREE HOURS, you all have managed to EXCEED the original goal! Incredibly amazing - we are so blessed. Fortunately, the goal will cover Asha's most pressing upfront costs - however, it will not cover the totality of the surgery. About Asha:
Asha is a 21-year-old recent Wellesley grad and a young nonprofit professional just getting her feet on the ground.
Why We Need Your Help:
Days before the New Year, we learned that Asha has 3 health issues requiring surgery, the most pressing of which is a cantaloupe-sized cyst on her right ovary. With its large size, its imminent rupture could threaten her life.
The Details:
In order to have this surgical procedure, Asha must pay her patient contribution of $2,700. Half of that money must be paid before they'll operate at all. Her family doesn't have anywhere near that in extra funds, not even enough for the first half. She is basically a ticking time bomb, and we are hoping that, with your help, she'll be able to have this vital surgery.
Extra Funds:
Any extra funding will go to the large hiatal hernia and gallbladder polyp that doctors have also discovered. Both will require surgery in the near future. Neither condition is life-threatening, which is why the ovarian cyst is our primary concern, but both greatly affect her quality of life. She has woken up nauseated nearly every morning for the last year, and experience near daily upper abdominal pain.
