Gabriels Journey Defeating Leukemia

Hello my name is Sophia Martinez, I am currently in Spokane, wa at sacred hearts hospital with my 12 year old son Gabriel who was diagnosed with leukemia on Thursday, October 4th. We had just celebrated Gabe’s birthday on September 21st and those who know Gabe can tell you what a loving, awesome kid he is! He is always so happy and playful, he talks to everybody! He had been running a fever for a few days prior and we were thinking it was the flu or strep throat. When I took him in to see his pediatrician on Monday they tested him for strep, it came back negative but the dr said the culture results would be back by Wednesday the 3rd. He was sleeping a lot and weak not really eating much, he was saying his throat hurt. on Wednesday I had to call the ambulance cause Gabe was having a hard time breathing. At trios they sedated him and put a breathing tube in, and said we were being taken by Helicopter to Spokane . They ended up removing his tonsils and dead tissue around the soft palate. The dr told me she questioned how or why a healthy 12 could get so sick so fast, so she was going to have the hematology/oncology doctors look at his chart to rule out any possibilities. So the next day is when we got the diagnosis. He’s already started chemo and on antibiotics for the infections. We have a long road ahead of us but I know every day is one step closer to complete healing and for us to come home! I am believing it and declaring it in Jesus’ name! I know we serve a awesome loving and merciful God and He is with Gabe through it all!! . I will be out of work for a good length of time to be with my son, Any help would be greatly appreciated especially prayers for my son Gabriel! God bless you all!
