Mission Trip to Dominican Republic

I am reaching out to family, friends, and charitable peoples who would be willing to support my mission trip to the Dominican Republic this summer. Six members of our Youth Group will be heading to Banica to do our mission work for the glory of God. I will be graduating from High School in June and I am excited to have the opportunity to serve others and expand my worldview before I leave for college.


Our particular project is the restoration of resident's homes in Banica. The trip has been structured so that we will be working alongside the local residents. This creates a sense of ownership that will hopefully be carried into the future. While we will be doing manual labor for the majority of the time, the focus the church center has is on education so that a social difference can be made. Another beautiful opportunity this trip will provide is the ability to experience poverty in a very real sense. However, with this poverty also comes a joy unlike what we are used to because there is a detachment to material things and a focus and trust on God. We will be living in an intentional Christian community and our purpose is not just to give financial support but to give of our time and resources and truly commit ourselves to the service of others.
