Adaptive Equipment for Thomas

Donation protected
Hello, my son Thomas, is a 6 year old little boy that needs your help. He was born with a very rare genetic condition called Allan-Herndon-Dudley syndrome. It is a mutation in the MCT8 gene, which is basically a defect in the thyroid hormone transporter gene. This syndrome, causes severe intellectual disability and problems with movement exclusively in males.

Thomas is wheel-chair bound and non-verbal. He has muscle weakness and stiffness. It is very difficult to bend him and carry him. He also suffers from seizures, which he is on medication for. We initially thought he had cerebral palsy, as it mirrors its symptoms but with further genetic testing found that he had this rare syndrome.

Your donations will help to purchase a variety of adaptive equipment to help him be cared for and have him feel independent. Thomas will always need new equipment, for as he gets older, his measurements and weight will change. I greatly appreciate any amount you can afford to give. Your contribution to getting better equipment for Thomas, will always be remembered!

Thank you in advance for your help! Thomas will be so happy when he can finally use equipment that are better suited for him and his needs.

Sincerely,

Franca Stoppini
