Chuck and Tami have spent the last  40 years loving each other and being best friends.   We are both battling cancer.  Chuck has been battling cancer for over three years, and has lost his kidney, had a heart attack,  and currently is living with stage three metastatic renal cell cancer.  Tami, who is recently retired so that she can care for Chuck and our family home, was diagnosed in September with a form of cancer caused by HPV.

Chuck's cancer has been stable until recently.  He has a small met on each lung, and one on the peripheral area of his liver.  Recently the met on his left lung has caused damage to the sack surrounding his lung, and it has been filling with fluid, making it difficult to breath.  This needs draining every five days, and makes Chuck feel uncharacteristically tired.  Chuck is heading off to Seattle the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance to seek out a clinical trial that is being offered to him.  He leaves on October 16th.

Tami begins her ChemoRadiation treatment at MSTI (Mountain States Tumor Institute) in Boise the day before Chuck leaves for Seattle. Tami's 6 weeks of ChemoRadiation Treatments and their residual side effects are anticipated to be quite debilitating from early November through mid December. During Tami's treatments, Chuck will travel to Seattle for eight trips with occasional overnight stays due to labs, and imaging tests that will be completed over the course of the clinical trial.

As Tami has been the primary care giver and household task person, this tie will become critical for our care. These two story lines have our hearts broken, as we each want to be there for the other, and both realize the urgency of each seeking their own treatment, and yet not wanting to be apart.

For Family and Friends who would like to help, please see this site for updates, and for opportunities to help.  WE NEED YOU HELP, ESPECIALLY DURING THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER. There are many ways to help. For those who are not here in Idaho, financial donations will help cover the cost of House keeping and Chuck's travel expenses to and from Seattle. Tami and Chuck have been blessed with the gracious outpouring of friends volunteering to help , but help with housekeeping and laundry will become essential as November's treatments will present a large risk to Tami's immune system and her ability to function.   Help us on this journey and witness the miraculous presence of God in our midst.

Thank you and Blessing to you,
Tami & Chuck
