Medical Mission to Guatemala

Donation protected

As many of you know, I made a major career change this year from teaching middle school math in a high needs school in DC to going back to school to become a doctor. While I now spend most of my days in the library and on the other side of the classroom my mission remains the same. Whether as a teacher or a doctor my goal is to help people in need.
This spring I am planning on going to a medical mission in Guatemala with my classmates in the Georgetown Pre-Med Post Baccalaureate Program. As student volunteers we get hands-on experience treating patients as doctors' assistants. I am thrilled to get this hands-on experience before applying to medical school in the fall. VIDA, the organization, sponsoring the mission makes continuous trips to the same regions providing on-going medical care to communities who do not have access to doctors. I am fundraising to pay for medical supplies, transportation, interpreters, lodging, and medical health professionals needed to run the VIDA program in Guatemala. Any donation that you are able to give will help to defray not only my own costs but will go towards supporting the entire program.  Your donation will be happily accepted and greatly appreciated!
