My name is Dulce and I want to help Casey and his family. I met Casey last year after Hurricane Harvey flooded all the houses on our street where his parents, Rusty and Cheryl, also live. He helped us gut our house and has continued to help us ever since.
Casey is like a sarcastic teddy bear with a big heart . Now I want to do what I can to help with this unfortunate incident that occurred.
Casey and his wife, Kim, had just flown into Key West to relax for a few days. Casey started experiencing cramping in his neck. This persisted thru the night and he began vomiting. Kim, raced him to the ER when he became disoriented. It was there that Kim was told they discovered blood on his brain after a CT scan. They immediately put him and Kim on a helicopter and flew them into Miami at Mount Sinai Hospital. He was evaluated and within a short amount of time taken into surgery to try and discover what was causing the bleeding in his brain. After an angiogram, they did not find any anuerysm. They believe it could be that a small vessel burst in his brain releasing blood into his fluid between the brain and the skull. They’ve had to insert a small catheter at the back of his head to help remove the blood filled fluid because hydrocephalus was setting in. He also got an incision on the top of his head to release the pressure built up. He is in the ICU Neuro division at Mount Sinai.
Casey and his family will have to stay in Miami for at least 14 days if not longer as the doctors continue to work on healing him. All of their support of family and friends is here in Texas so I can only imagine how much more difficult the situation is. This is why I want to help and why I am asking for you to help however you can. Because they are away from home, his family has hotel, rental vehicle, food, and other expenses, and without insurance the medical bills will skyrocket in a blink of an eye. I believe we can help reduce the stress and worry they’re going through by helping take care of some of these expenses together.
