Help The Barker Family

My name is Lisa Albertson and I wanted to start a GoFundMe page on behalf of Mark Barker and Amy Kennedy in order to financially assist their family during this difficult period while Mark is recovering.  I met Mark through my cousin 20 years ago. While I am a bit older, we have been friends since.  He is such a funny and kindhearted person.  I saw him through nursing school. He was there for me through some tough times, so there is no better way to repay his kindnesses than to help in his time of need.     On September 18, 2018, Mark welcomed his first child into the world. A beautiful little boy he and Amy named Konrad Colton Barker. Mark was so very proud. Getting married and becoming a Dad is something Mark wanted for a long time. Part of his dream finally came true when he met and married Amy. His vision of family came to complete fruition when Amy gave birth to their son through C-section. He had never been happier until tragedy struck.     Then on September 20, two days after the birth of his baby boy, the completely unexpected and unthinkable happened. While at the hospital visiting his wife and newborn child, Mark suffered a heart attack right in front of Amy and the baby. Doing her best to save her husband, Amy performed CPR on Mark until help arrived. She even moved the couch with him on it in order to move him closer to her oxygen, causing her staples to rip from her C-section! I can't even begin to imagine the horror of it all!!!     Since that time, Mark has had 3 operations. He had an unknown bleeding source in his abdomen the doctors hope they have stopped. Initially, he showed some promising signs such as opening his eyes when his name was spoken, moving his feet, and squeezing your hand to respond to commands. However, he has not responded the last few days. His blood pressure and oxygen levels are still unstable. He has not regained consciousness and still remains on life support at this time. The medical expenses alone from his medical care will surely devastate them.      As if things aren't bad enough for this family with Mark clinging to life, they have to figure out how to make due without the support of their father and husband. Amy won't be unable to get back to work anytime soon because of the C-section after her causing trauma to her surgery site in order to help her husband. Additionally, Mark had been laid off the week before Konrad was born. He applied for unemployment and was approved, but Amy is unable to claim the unemployment benefits on behalf of her husband due to the circumstance. What is supposed to be the happiest moment in their lives, has become the hardest of unimaginable situations and are in need of as much help. My hope is to raise money for Amy and their family while Mark is in the hospital. I pray the money gives her and their family the ability to make it through this tough time with at least some minor sense of financial security. Amy should be able to to take the time she needs now to recover and heal herself without having to worry about money or the fact that the father of her 12 day old son is clinging to life with the aid of machines.     In the meantime, I humbly ask your for your assistance for Mark and his family.  If you can do anything, anything at all, please, please, please help Amy, Mark, and their family.  Any contributions will be greatly appreciated by Mark and his family. It doesn't matter if it's only $5, anything will help this family at this point. I know they will be thankful to anyone for whatever they can do.       Mark is such a sweet, loving person that would do whatever he could for someone so I cannot imagine not trying to help him now in his time of need. Please keep Mark in your prayers for continued healing and that he come back to his wife and newborn, baby boy.
