Step-by-Step #ProstheticLeg

Everyone who knows my dad, knows that he is one of the kindest. My dad puts everyone ahead of himself, not only when it comes to family, but also when he sees someone in need. He is always the first to help, even when he really can't afford to, he does anyway. And so, on his behalf, I am asking everyone who is able to help, to please, consider helping my dad.

My dad has struggled with diabetes for years, and he has been dependent on insulin for the last number of years. On an ordinary night, my dad started feeling ill. What we initially though was just food poisoning, turned into a nightmare. Two days after starting to feel ill, my daddy went to the doctor's and he was admitted to the hospital for dehydration. Nearly 4 Months and 9 surgeries later, he left the hospital with one less limb. His lower right leg had to be amputated to save his life.

Since then, what is left of his leg has had time to heal, however he struggles with pressure sores. This is fairly common for amputees (although his is much more severe since his prosthetic leg was made faulty by a greedy "doctor"). However since my father also has diabetes, the healing process of the pressure sores is much slower and my dad is sometimes stuck in a wheelchair for months, not able to do his daily work at construction sites.

Recently, my dad has been struggling with his remaining foot/leg. The doctors have amputated 2 of his toes in the last 6 months. Although they are taking preventive measures, they cannot stop what is happening and that causes us to worry that he might lose his other leg as well. The cause of him losing his limbs, is infections that his body is not able to handle. The infections come from the pressure sores that he gets on his amputated leg. The pressure sores are caused by his prosthetic leg which was made faulty by his doctor at the time. Even though we have what is considered a good medical aid plan, they will no longer cover the expenses for a new leg. My parents do not have the funds to pay for any of this out of pocket since they still have two daughters at home to care and provide for. My dad's new doctor has agreed to make him a new leg that will fit and support him better for a price of around $10 000. My parents are working to gather the funds to pay for this new leg, however, it takes time and that is something my dad does not have.  He desperately needs a new prosthetic leg, and he needs it as soon as possible.

So, I am sincerely asking on his behalf, if there is anyone who can help, to please consider doing so. My father has us three daughters and I know we all dream of having him walk us down the isle someday. after all my dad has given me and done for me throughout my life, I want to give him the chance to do that by giving him the funds he needs to have a new custom leg made, so we can prevent more pressure sores, infections and months in the wheelchair. My father is truly a man who helps everyone, and I am hoping that there is someone out there who will find a way to help him.
