Hello! My name is Jeannine Saldana and I am raising funds for Mr Scout’s chemotherapy. Scout just turned 5 years old in September and was a healthy boy until he showed signs of a breathing problem. We took him to our vet as he was retching/reverse sneezing and was given medication for it, which helped. Fast forward to the end of September, he seemed like he couldn’t breathe well and was crying in pain. We took him to a different vet that could get him in sooner to have his lungs checked, and all testing came back negative. We were sent home but still had questions on what was wrong with him. One morning, I checked his throat to see if maybe I could find anything stuck there as he was still choking, hacking, retching, or whatever. To find that he had a growth on his right tonsil area. Our usual vet got us in as an emergency, and did surgery to remove the mass for biopsy. We hoped it was just an abnormal growth or an enlarged tonsil and everything would be back to normal after this. However, results came back and he was diagnosed with oral squamous cell carcinoma.
At this time, we are stumped and feel like we’ve hit a brick wall as bill after bill keep coming in order to figure out what was wrong with him. We are reaching out to anyone who has anything extra with their budget to help us continue our care to prolong our dog’s life. He is starting his first round of chemotherapy, and are hoping that it will prevent the spread to different parts of his body.
Please help us have more time with him. 5 years is nearly not enough.
