Detroit Debate Team National Tournament

Help University Prep Science and Math High School in Detroit attend National Tournament!

Hello, my name is Daniel Shackelford and I am the Debate Coach at University Prep Science and Math High School in the heart of downtown Detroit. This year, I started a brand new debate program at my school and was shocked at how many interested students I had. With hard work and dedication from my kids, our school quickly began to succeed in local tournaments. With the season almost coming to a close, our team has been invited to attend the Homewood Flossmoor National Debate Tournament near Chicago at the end of February. Unfortunately, our team does not have the funds to attend. With registration fees, and costs for charter bus transportation, hotel rooms, chaperones, and food, this tournament seems like an impossible dream to attend. The administration at my school has been very supportive of our new team, but funds are limited. And with our school having around 65% of its students receiving free or reduced lunch, children's families will not be able to send their kids with their own funds. Please help donate to our Debate Team to help reward deserving students for their hard work and dedication all year.
