A Diabetic Alert Dog for Andrei

Our five year old son Andrei was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.  This a life long condition that affects how your body processes food and turns it into energy. Andrei's auto immune system has rendered his pancreas disfunctional.  As a result he needs five daily injections of insulin.  He must also carefully monitor his glucose levels to avoid extreme highs and lows.  A diabetic alert dog is capable of sensing when someone is at a dangerous level of blood sugar and is able to alert that person or caregivers to this condition.  They have proven to save many lives, especially at nighttime when people are sleeping and unaware of danger.  These dogs are very costly and so we are seeking funding to help us purchase one for Andrei.  If we can't raise enough money for a dog we hope to buy a CGM monitor - a device that continuously monitors blood glucose.
