It is with great sadness to announce that our beautiful and beloved Larraine Melody de Dios has come to the end of her journey with breast cancer. For those of you who were not aware that Mel was sick, please know that it was from pure love that Melody wanted to keep her journey quiet and to preserve your memory of her. She was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in October of 2017. Her cancer had spread quickly, but in true Mel fashion, like her ultimate hero Wonder Woman, she fought with all the power she possessed.
Through her battle, she remained humble and hopeful, patient and kind. For those of us who were so lucky to have shared a moment, a season or a lifetime with Mel, there is no doubt that she touched us all with her wicked sense of humor and ability to make everyone feel incredibly happy and unconditionally loved.
Melody’s talent for making all things beautiful took form in various ways, from becoming an expert in Make-Up Design or traveling the world while entertaining on cruise ships. For the last 13 years, Mel worked for Carnival Cruise Lines entertaining guests and mentoring her fellow team to develop into their absolute best. She was adventurous, brave and brilliantly funny.
Melody passed September 25th, 2018 surrounded by family and friends. She is a constant reminder of humility, grace, and love. Even in the final days of her beautiful life, she reminded us how much fun it is to laugh from the deepest part of our souls.
Tonight the earth may be a bit colder, the crowd a bit quieter, but the stars are brighter, and the angels are definitely singing louder than ever before.
For those of you whose life has been touched by Melody, on behalf of her family, we ask that you please find it in your hearts to give a token of rememberance for her service and Celebration of Life and Love. Anything raised above the cost of the memorial services will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Melody.
** My name is Kelly Casaga Phillips and Melody is my best friend of 20 years, I am from San Jose, CA. Calvyn Martens is her best friend from Carnival Cruise Lines for the past 7 years. He is from Canada. Together, on behalf of the her family, we created this gofundme campaign to help raise money to cover the cost of her memorial service and celebration of life. Anything that is raised above these costs will be donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Myrla Macaraeg, Melody's oldest sister will be the administrator of all monies donated.
