Medical Mission to Aid Syrian Refugees

Donation protected

Between March 21, 2014 and March 27, 2014, I plan to join Salaam Cultural Center's Medical Mission for my second time on their journey to providing aid to several camps in Northern Jordan which are home to over 100,000 Syrian refugees. As a pharmacist, I hope to offer medical assistance to Syrian refugees in camps such as Zaatari, clinics, child care centers and rehabilitation centers. This will be my second mission with the SCM organization, as I first particiapted in November 2013, where I had the opportunity to provide medical care to a plethora of families displaced by the civil war in Syria. When I returned from the November mission, I felt incomplete and knew I needed to go back. Now that I have experienced what it is like, I feel more prepared to provide the refugees with the care they need. In one week we completely depleted our stock of childrens' medications, which consisted mainly of antibiotics, pain relievers, and vitamins (as many of the children are malnurtritioned.) The medications that are typically at our disposal are of a great necessity to these children. At the end of each day of the mission, I kept a list of all the medications that we didn't have so that next time around, I can better provide, as it hurt me to see my patients ask me for the medications that I did not have in my suitcase. I carried $1,000 worth of medications my first time around, and noticed that wasn't nearly enough. I realized I need help, YOUR help; they need your help.

I am requesting your help so that I may join the health professionals affiliated with the SCM and provide optimal pharmaceutical care. Since participation in this mission is self-funded, I am hoping to raise funds for the following purposes:
(1) $650 for transportation between camps in Jordan;
(2) Extra baggage fees ($100/bag x 3) as I will personally be carrying medications from the US to Jordan ; and
(3) $4,050 to purchase the needed medications consisting of childrens vitamins and antibiotics, as well as medications for major diseases in the adults, suplies and women's care products. These medications will be purchased both by myself from the U.S. as well as by SCM in Jordan.

TOTAL: $5,000
FUNDRAISING END DATE: March 15, 2014

Your kind donation towards my $5,000 goal will allow me to join a program that is focused on alleviating suffering among refugees that are in dire need of care. Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your help in advance!
