I’m Martha, a Venezuelan master’s student in Germany. From my experience, I can tell that moving to a new country to pursue your dreams is a huge challenge, but everything gets harder if you don’t have financial support, and that is the situation most low-income Venezuelan students are facing. I’ve created this campaign to help my dear friend Xavier pursue his dream: to continue his career in academia and get a Ph.D. in Molecular biosciences.
I had the chance to share many years with Xavi in and outside the academic environment and I know that he is not only talented and passionate about science but also a loyal friend who is always willing to help. I am sure he will do an excellent job!!
Now a bit more about Xavier:
Hello, my name is Xavier Valero, I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Biology from Universidad de Los Andes (Venezuela) and during the last years I have been working as a research assistant in the Neurochemistry Laboratory of the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC).
I have been selected for the doctoral program in Molecular Biosciences at Universidad Andrés Bello, Santiago de Chile, which will allow me to continue my studies and move forward in my professional career, allowing me to achieve my dream of becoming a Researcher. The Program starts in the second half of March 2022, so I must be in Chile on that date.
I come from a low-income family and due to the current conditions in my country, my salary as a research assistant does not allow me to cover all the expenses involved in travel and accommodation during the first month, these are:
- Flight ticket to Chile ($600)
- University fee ($350)
- Rent ($250) and general expenses ($300) for the first month while I file all the paperwork and receive my scholarship
- PCR Covid test ($60)
For this reason, decided to carry out this campaign to request your help and in this way be able to reach the goal of starting my Ph.D. I will deeply appreciate any support you can give me, either by donating or sharing my campaign. I leave attached a document that certifies my acceptance to the Doctorate.

Soy Martha, estudiante venezolana de maestría en Alemania. Desde mi experiencia, puedo decir que mudarse a un nuevo país para perseguir tus sueños es un gran desafío, pero todo se vuelve más difícil si no tienes apoyo financiero, y esa es la situación que enfrentan la mayoría de los estudiantes venezolanos de bajos recursos. Creé esta campaña para ayudar a mi querido amigo Xavier a perseguir su sueño: continuar su carrera académica y obtener un doctorado en Biociencias Moleculares.
Tuve la oportunidad de compartir muchos años con Xavi dentro y fuera del ámbito académico y sé que no solo es talentoso y apasionado por la ciencia, sino también un amigo leal que siempre está dispuesto a ayudar. ¡¡Estoy seguro de que hará un excelente trabajo!!
Ahora un poco más sobre Xavier:
Hola, mi nombre es Xavier Valero, obtuve mi licenciatura en Biología de la Universidad de Los Andes (Venezuela) y durante los últimos años me he desempeñado como asistente de investigación en el Laboratorio de Neuroquímica del Instituto Venezolano de Investigaciones Científicas (IVIC) .
He sido seleccionado para el programa de doctorado en Biociencias Moleculares de la Universidad Andrés Bello, Santiago de Chile, lo que me permitirá continuar mis estudios y avanzar en mi carrera profesional, permitiéndome alcanzar mi sueño de ser Investigador. El Programa inicia en la segunda quincena de marzo de 2022, por lo que debo estar en Chile para esa fecha.
Provengo de una familia de escasos recursos y debido a las condiciones actuales de mi país, mi salario como asistente de investigación no me permite cubrir todos los gastos que implican el viaje y el alojamiento durante el primer mes, estos son:
- Pasaje a Chile ($600)
- Matricula universitaria ($350)
- Alquiler de habitacion ($250) y gastos generales ($300) para el primer mes mientras hago todos los trámites y recibo mi beca
- Prueba PCR Covid ($60)
Por este motivo, decidí realizar esta campaña para solicitar su ayuda y de esta manera poder alcanzar la meta de iniciar mi Doctorado. Agradeceré profundamente cualquier apoyo que me puedan brindar, ya sea donando o compartiendo mi campaña. Dejo adjunto documento que acredita mi aceptación al Doctorado.
