Help Matthew Move

Donation protected
The child in the photo is my son Matthew. At 6 months old Matthew was rushed to hospital following a seizure. He was diagnosed as suffering from viral encephalitis caused by the herpes simplex virus, most likely after being kissed by someone with a cold sore. After 3 months we were allowed home, Matthew was severely disabled - due to the brain damage he had suffered.Matthews leg muscles are shortening which is making it almost impossible to straightening his legs properly. This is despite regular and intensive physiotherapy. If this isn’t halted, Matthew will require Botox injections and a high possibility of surgery to cut his tendons which will result in a lack of movement for him, and make it difficult for him to use his standing frame.Matthew has had a trial for a medimotion Motomed gracile device, this looks similar to an exercise bike but he can remain in his wheelchair during use, vital as both myself and my husband have health issues which make transferring him very difficult. The device will pedal for him, moving his legs, and allowing him to take over the motion when he is strong enough. If it increases his range of movement enough, it can cease the need for the surgery. The device is priced at £4550, which is out of reach for us as a family, but the wonderful charity Cash 4 kids, via Hallam FM, have kindly agreed to donate £2000, if we can raise the rest. I hate asking for money, he’s my child and as his parent, I should be able to provide anything he needs. He has been through so much in his life already, I don’t want him having to face surgery too if I can help it. ————————I am that mumThe one with that childAnd when you look upI see your fake smileYou don't say a wordYour eyes give you awayI've seen it before"I'm sorry..." they sayFor you see a burdenAn unfortunate fateWhere I see a giftAnd the hearts that have changedYou've not been a witnessWhen I've shed happy tearsOver every small milestoneAnd each conquered fearYou've not seen the beautyOf the journey, fought hardWe began with so little But we've traveled so farIt's an uphill battleBut it's worth every stepWould I do it again? My answer is yesI am that mumAnd this is my childAnd he’s so much moreThan the label you've filedPlease give him a chanceIt's the least you can doAnd I won't be surprisedWhen he wins your heart too.❤❤❤
