The Boxer Rescue-Sasha has breast cancer

Tax deductible

This is SASHA. Some of you may already "know" her. She's been in foster care a a few months now. We knew when she came into rescue, that she had some medical issues that needed to be addressed. Today, we found out just how serious her condition is and what it's going to take to get this beautiful girl healthy again. Sasha's wonderful foster mom took her to Tufts Veterinary Hospital in Grafton, MA today to meet with some amazing doctors. The diagnosis - MAMMARY TUMORS-both chains (it's breast cancer in dogs) As if that wasn't enough, she also has marked gingival proliferative growths (her mouth is covered with gingival growths). She also has a mass on her right flank and needs to be spayed. The good news that came out of today? She DOES NOT have pancreatitis. More good news? The vets are confident that they can make her well again and that's all we needed to hear. She's a beautiful boxer with the sweetest, most loving disposition and absolutely deserves a chance at a long, healthy life. Without the surgery, the breast cancer will spread, and she will die. With the surgery, the dr. is confident he can remove the cancer, giving Sasha the life she so deserves.
As you know, any surgery is costly, and our Sasha is heading in for quite the ordeal. It will not be cheap, it will not be easy, but we will get it done. We received an estimate from Tufts... Below is a breakdown. We realize that not everyone is able to donate towards her care, but please spread the word. We could really use a little help. So many of our dogs need vet care, but at this moment, we need to focus on Sasha.

All mammory glands removed via Chain surgery (they remove the “chain” of mammories on each side) $1000.00

Numerous lumps removed on mammories $300.00

Lump on right flank removed $600.00

Gingival proliferative tissue removed (her entire mouth is covered with gingival growths) $600.00

Ultrasound $281.00

Xray - $202.00

Stay two nights at hospital $500.00

Pain meds – aftercare – re-check $100

We've received a lot of generous donations since creating this page and we cannot tell you how much we appreciate it. You can be sure that your generosity will go towards helping Sasha get the care she needs.

Thank you!

The Boxer Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving the New England area. Our group is made up of dedicated volunteers. These are the people who care for the homeless, abused, and unwanted Boxers because they have a love and passion for the breed and believe they all deserve a second chance.
You can visit our website at www.theboxerrescue.org. You can also find us on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/TheBoxerRescue
Our rescue boxers come in all shapes, sizes, ages, and many come to us in need of medical care. We do not close our minds or our hearts to a boxer in need. It is our wish that each and every one finds health, happiness, and love in a forever home. Sometimes the road to their “happily ever after” is paved with obstacles, but we overcome… our boxers overcome. It’s what we do. We are “all about the dogs”.

As a rescue, we are most proud of our dedication to our senior boxers. They often come into rescue after years with one family, confused, not knowing why they've been uprooted. Our seniors are placed in loving foster homes and most likely will not be adopted due to their age. Sadly, many people overlook them. Those that are lucky enough to be adopted, will sometimes have their fee waived. Those who stay "forever fosters" will be cared for by our rescue until they are called to the rainbow bridge. We will absorb the cost of their medical care for the remainder of their lives and we will make sure they receive what they need to be happy and healthy.
This is just a glimpse into what we do... what we're all about. These are snapshots of just a few of the boxers in our care at the moment. We never know what tomorrow will bring, but we must be ready.

Our adoption fee is $350.00, but that almost never covers the costs of preparing these sweet souls for adoption. Our Boxers are spayed or neutered, brought up to date on all vaccines, tested for heartworm, and given heartworm preventative before being adopted. Sometimes, we help our foster homes pay for dog food. We’ve also paid for trainers to work with Boxers in their foster homes so any unwanted behaviors can be dealt with in a positive way.
What a gift and blessing it would be if you could help us with our ongoing medical bills. The Boxer Rescue relies on the donations of those who hold a special place in their heart for this amazing, goofy, loveable, and loyal breed. Help us, help them. Every penny raised goes toward making a broken Boxer, whole again.
Thank you, for your generosity.
