Repairs From Hurricane Florence

Donation protected
My story goes as such, I moved my family from New York earlier this year to North Carolina. I wanted to give them a better opportunity at life, than that of the high cost of living in New York. I moved in March and then bought our first home in May, it was exciting, it felt good, and my family was ready for this new change. The wife and the kids came down at end of May and while it was difficult at first they loved the house, but moving hasn't been the easiest. It felt almost too good to be true. I was laid off early August and my wife still wasn't working. We had this new house, mortgage, and other bills to worry about. Luckily for credit cards and some emergency funds, we made it work. While I struggled to look for work in my career, my wife found a job in her field around the end of August. I still had no luck finding work. Then came hurricane Florence with a category 4 storm and we thought the worst would happen to our home. We were able to evacuate to Georgia with the help of my brother and stay safe. Luckily the hurricane weakened down to a category 1, but it still hit us dead on. Upon our return from Georgia, the house looked like it held strong during the hurricane. Once we entered our home we realized we weren't so lucky. We had roof damage which destroyed our second floor family room where the kids had all their toys and played. Water came in and caused the ceiling to drop, leaving a big hole. There was insulation everywhere, many damages to the walls, and the carpet was all soaked. Well now its time to submit a claim through our home insurance and we find out that we have a $3,000 deductible to pay! Most of our emergency funds went to staying afloat after I got laid off. The only good thing is that I finally got a job in my career and I'm getting back to work, but financially it'll take some time to balance out. We ask for any donations to help us restore our home. It will take a while to get that warm feeling we had back, hearing the kids play and enjoy their home. Any donations will help us in this journey to restore our home in North Carolina. Thank you for your time. Photos of damages and repairs will be posted.
