Don’t Let Cancer Be Our Last Chapter

August 10, 2018 was the day our lives would never be the same. Sitting in my car, about to take my sister home, I received a phone call from my nurse who informed me I had pancreatic cancer. No preparation, no additional information, just “You have pancreatic cancer.”
It has been six weeks from that day — six weeks full of CT scans, MRIs, labs, ultrasounds, scopes, and biopsies, that bring us to today... with an accurate diagnosis, 37lbs lighter, experiencing some intense pain, and still determined to fight; wanting to start a journey of treatments that will determine if I get another shot at life.
At this point we are all in shock but truly ready to fight with everything we have, to love life, move forward, and put this adventure far far behind us. But we need your help! We are raising funds for unexpected medical expenses (not already covered), lost income, and to meet the needs of our family as we travel to and from MD Anderson in Houston, Texas.
We have specifically chosen this hospital because they have the best treatment center in the world for my specific type of cancer — which is a very rare category with a lot of unknowns associated with it. Leave it to me to be the difficult one.
