Care Packages for Families in Need

Donation protected
Across the street from where we live, about 80 Venezuelan refugees have been given one hot meal every day for the last 4 months by the catholic church. These are families that have fled their country because of the devastating economic collapse in Venezuela. Luis and I would love to give these families an ancheta for Christmas, which is a basket containing food; in this case, a basket containing the essentials – rice, beans, lentils, tuna, sardines, crackers, pasta (noodles), canned fruit, oatmeal, flour, hot chocolate, coffee, sugar, salt, and oil, as well as a couple of face masks, toilet paper, wet wipes, hand sanitizer, a toothbrush, toothpaste, body soap and bandaids. In addition to this mercado, I would like to give the women sanitary pads and feminine wash. I cannot imagine how difficult it must be for a female refugee to go without these products. And instead of heavy baskets, we plan to give them these items in a drawstring backpack, so they can then use them after when they're on the move; they move around the country and across borders on foot, sometimes walking for days.

Each care package costs $35,000 Colombian Pesos, which equals $10 American dollars. Our goal is to give them 60 food baskets.
If you can help us reach this goal, we would be so grateful and happy! Every penny will go to helping these families feel a tiny bit less far-from-home this Christmas. We'll post pictures of our progress and what your donations helped us get for them this Christmas!
