65 days for 65 roses

Donation protected
65 Roses Day is the National Fundraising Day for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland and will take place on Friday April 13th 2018.

This year for the campaign I've decided to take on a challenge to raise awareness and funds for Cystic Fibrosis.

Having cystic fibrosis myself, the last year hasn't been the best in terms of health. I suppose you could say I was unwillingly living it by Murphy's law.

Multiple hospital admissions, what seemed like a endless road of iv and oral antibiotics and so on, my body took quite a toll overall and inspite of my best efforts in doing what I was physically able, my lung function stands at 39%. (22-01-2018)

So whats the challenge?

I have given myself 65 days in the lead up to 65 Roses day, to pull out all the stops and try raise my lung function to 65% (or hopefully above) as this was my baseline from mid February last year.

How are you going to do this?

Exercise benefits us all, but people with CF benefit even more from being physically active because exercise can: slow the rate of decline in lung function, help clear mucus from the lungs, allowing for easier breathing. Something that has been difficult for me this past year.

Poor appetite in CF is common. Many people with CF will lose their appetite especially during periods of infection but it is important to eat enough calories to gain weight, grow and be strong enough to fight infections.
....
So my plan is to put in place a diet and exercise regime, which will consist of at least 3 meals a day (sounds normal but for me this is a big deal) and mainly cardio exercise in which I will increase throughout the 65 days as I gain more endurance.

Donations made to Cystic Fibrosis Ireland fund vital services such as exercise grants, transplant grants, bereavement counselling etc.
Any contributions towards my €650 goal will be massively appreciated and I wont lie... any support in terms of motivation would be grateful too (I'm gonna need it)

If you would like to follow my journey throughout the 65 days feel free to check out my instagram allaboutashe, where I will be posting daily updates on my progress.

Thank you
