Kendrick Taylor Michael's Journey

Donation protected
Taylor moved to Phoenix and was living with his grandmother while searching for a job and planning to attend college this fall. On July 3rd, 2017 all of those plans changed when he was shot 7 times, including once in each limb, twice in his chest, and once in his head. This bright young man was now fighting for his life.

Upon arrival to the trauma center, Taylor received gallons of blood to try and replace the massive amount of blood loss he was having. He had surgeries  to repair his legs, arms, stomach, liver, spleen, remove a kidney, and place a feeding tube.  He was also diagnosed with pneumonia after several days of being on the ventilator. During all of this his brain began to swell from the shot to his head and bullet that remains lodged on the left side. Because of the swelling to his brain, Taylor has been very unstable. There is a constant battle to keep his intracranial pressure down to prevent further brain damage. There is also a risk that he may have a stroke. Taylor is unable to be touched, or even be talked to, as this is too stimulating for his brain.

He was transferred to another local hospital that specializes in neurosurgery, where he was awaiting surgery to remove the bullet from his brain and repair the blood vessels. They have now said that they cannot remove the bullet as it would cause more damage. The plan is for him to also have a tracheotomy at some point.

The doctors best prognosis for Taylor is that he will be in a wheelchair, be non-verbal, and possibly not be able to comprehend verbal communication for the rest of his life.  He will need 24 hour care. This is absolutely heart wrenching. His hospital stay is likely going to be a very long journey, with lots of ups and downs, as he has major milestones to conquer.

The medical expenses for his stay will be enormous, and Taylor does not have insurance. His immediate family is not currently living in Phoenix, but they are with him. His parents are unable to be working during this time, and there is an added cost of eating out and commuting to/from the hospital. Any donation is appreciated and will be put toward these expenses.

Thank you so much for your generosity, love, and support during this time. We will continue to pray for God's hand to guide these providers and comfort Taylor and his family.

Sincerely,
Branigan (Taylor's aunt from WI)
