Little Man’s Surgery And P.O.M. Help

This is long, so bear with me! I haven’t posted a lot of personal stuff since my husband Jeff died. It’s been a long almost 7 months of learning how to tackle things in difficult circumstances. Everyone has tragedy and struggles in life and we all learn to deal with them best we can and we also try and learn what we can from them as well. We look and hope for the best and work to get through whatever it is we face. When Jeff passed away he and I had 18 fully vetted dogs for adoption with our rescue. At that time I gave most of those dogs to other rescues at no charge or adopted them at seriously reduced fees because i had just started a new job two weeks earlier and I no longer had Jeff to help me with their daily care. Six months prior to losing Jeff we had to move our rescue dogs from a boarding situation into a better boarding situation with our vet clinic while we tried to build our own place. We had countless senior dogs come through in that timeframe that needed full dental‘s and bloodwork and heart x-rays prior to being adopted out at reduced adoption fees. There were several heartworm positive dogs that we treated at that time as well. We had two dogs come in with gunshot wounds that needed to be addressed. When Jeff passed away all of those bills were left hanging because he had lost his life insurance when he lost his job the prior year. None of us expect to die young and Jeff hoped he’d find work with insurance again soon but that didn’t happen in time. (If your family depends on life insurance through JUST your job, please Buy a personal policy while you’re young or healthy enough to afford it. You are never guaranteed a job until retirement. ). For the fifteen years of rescue prior to his death I was always able to pay off all of my outstanding vet bills. When Jeff passed I IMMEDIATELY stopped taking on new rescues because I knew I no longer had the means to care for the outstanding balances — and I didn’t want to incur more rescue debt. I immediately put the house up for sale in hopes that I could move closer to work and use the remaining funds to pay off the vet bills since they have been so gracious as to not pressure me to clear those accounts immediately. The house or land has not sold yet unfortunately and it’s been very stressful watching the weeks tick by without paying down those bills. I love my new job and the pay is enabling me to personally survive week to week but it does not afford me any extra funds to pay on the outstanding vet bills or even minor emergencies. Because of all of this I need to run one last fundraiser to try and pay these boarding/vet bills down so that I can care for one of my own little rescues that I couldn’t find a home for. If you recall — Little Man and his sister TinkerBell were rescued from a home last year that had them living outside even in the winter time. They are both about 9 pounds. TinkerBell has frostbite damage on her ears from her hard life and is about 10 years old and Little Man is now 16 years old. In the year that I have had them I was not able to adopt them out because they have been difficult to housebreak due to having lived outdoors. They love each other very much and they use Wee wee pads for the most part so i just deal with it and they’re happy with me. I love them and they’re having a good retirement here!! In the past year they have had countless vet bills for dentals, very sensitive stomachs and a cough that went on for months due to seasonal allergies. About a month ago Little Man had an eye injury that has now ulcerated. While he is getting frail because he is a senior dog, he is still very feisty and gets very excited to see me when I come home, he eats like a little piggy, he loves to sleep in the sun and he loves to sleep on my lap and in the bed with me, and he still wants to attack any new visitors that come to my home. (Lol) I don’t believe that he is ready to give up on life yet. I took him to the vet yesterday thinking we may have to euthanize him over his eye but I just can’t bring myself to put him to sleep because his situation right now is financially bad for me. He is going to need to have his eye removed on Monday and we are going to hope that he makes it through the surgery OK due to his age. But if not I feel like we can say we tried because he still has a lot of spirit left in him. I am unable to cover the cost of his surgery because of the situations that have occurred in my life in the last six months and I can’t incur any more debt with my veterinarian. I know everyone is struggling financially. I rarely ask for help and this is difficult for me. If anyone can contribute toward this fundraiser to pay down a portion of the outstanding prior rescue vet bills and get Little Man through Monday I would be so grateful. Any small amount helps. I can also provide direct contact info for the vets if you’d prefer to pay them directly. I appreciate all of you that have adopted Pooches from me in the past 15 years and I sincerely appreciate all of you that tirelessly do this same kind of work. Thank you for listening and for any good thoughts and prayers you have sent my way. ❤️
