Blood Transfusion for Smiles

I’ll leave the original story below, because this was for something else, but this has developed. It turns out the campaign to fix Smiles’s leg could have saved his life. His immune system is attacking his red blood cells. We do not yet know why, but he needs extensive medical attention. He is undergoing a blood transfusion as I’m typing this. Please, please donate if you can. I want my baby to come home happy and healthy. Please help us, because I have no other way.
Here is the original story, which happened 20 days prior to this:
Hello! Today Smiles and I were swarmed by hornets while we were on a walk. As we ran away, Smiles was stung multiple times and broke three toes on his front right paw as we maneuvered through brush and bramble. I was stung too, 12 times.Smiles is in a lot of pain. I rushed him to the emergency vet and they gave him Benadryl for the stings and suggested surgery for his foot. I can’t afford the surgery they recommended, but they said a brace was the next best thing. They made one specially for him since they did not have one small enough to fit his leg.Now, Smiles will have 11 vet appointments over the next two months. One of them is a surgery consult. This is so his regular vet can give him a new brace every week. That will apparently be done by a surgeon. He needs a new brace every week for 8 weeks, so that means an additional 8 appointments. At 4 weeks and 8 weeks, he needs more x-rays, so that is 2 more appointments, making 11 appointments total.I’m taking him to his regular vet for those appointments rather than going back to the emergency vet because it will be more affordable, and they can give him the same level of care. Each of those appointments costs $90 to come in. I don’t know how much the x-rays or the braces will cost, or the surgery consult, but the emergency vet said it would probably be around $1500.Your donation will help Smiles get the care he needs to heal properly. Without proper treatment, he is at elevated risk of developing arthritis and chronic pain. Please help us get him to the vet every week!! Thank you so much!
