Terrance Crawford

Today is September 14, 2018 and 4 weeks ago Terrance was admitted into the hospital for 13 days. We laughed, we thought it was just a mistaken blood test. Then we thought, its just high blood pressure, he needs fluids and we can go home. Then came the wild card, Multiple Myeloma. Now we are here, 4 weeks later in the battle of our lives.

I, especially have been wrestling with so many dreams and prayers and wants and hopes that this diagnosis would not come. But it has. Stage 2 Multiple Myeloma. This cancer is a blood cancer and for Terrance it is greatly affecting his kidneys. As I scroll through my phone looking at all my recent pictures I see this really blatant line being drawn. Before. After. Before. After. Before. After. Some moments I am sick and angry. I hate it all so much. I scream and I yell and tell God I need a million more good years and this is unfair. Some days I see the joy that comes in the waiting and in the circle of friends that have wrapped us so tight in all their prayers that even when we can’t pray anymore they are standing in the gap for us.

This week has been one of the hardest. Terrance has started dialysis and got a port put in his chest for easier access to chemo. He had two small surgeries where the catheter and port were put in his chest and he has completed two dialysis treatments and two chemo treatments. These two things can be removed when he doesn’t need them anymore. Although he is sore and exhausted, he is staying strong and fighting while he rests and eats. Pray for his mind and heart to focus on healing and not to be discouraged while healing takes time. Pray for Nate and Nola, who are not able to fully grasp the magnitude of what has happened. Pray for me as I balance all the details of being a mom and wife. Pray for our families as they support us and love us endlessly.
