Chris Mcpherson’s Bucket List

Chris is a son, a brother, a friend and most importantly a dad to his only daughter Skylar whom we had 19 yrs ago and as Skylar's mom I want to do whatever I can to help and support her and Chris any way I can! They have a very special bond despite the fact me and her dad divorced over 15 yrs ago!  Chris has been in and out of hospitals for 10 plus years battling kidney disease, and after years of agonizing and debilitating dialysis and trips to the hospital and days on end in hospital beds with stints and never ending blood work he finally had his prayers answered and received a kidney from a donor back in 2014! Things started to look promising! He enrolled in school at North Shore Community College and he was engaging in life again and nurturing his relationships and wasn’t spending all his time in a hospital or sick in bed! However, recently Chris’s kidneys are not working like they should and his body is now rejecting his transplant. He also lost enormous amounts of weight and his immune system is severely compromised!! He received devastating, gut-wrenching news just this week from his doctor at Beth Israel and we are still trying to wrap our heads around it, Chris has been given a death sentence of 2-3 years to live because his kidneys are failing him and he’s not strong enough for another surgery, he also does not want to put his body through the exhausting and draining challenges of Dialysis again and as he put it “prolong the inevitable” ! It may sound insane to most of us but Chris has been in and out of hospitals most of his adult life and he’s tired.... mentally, physically and emotionally! We have almost lost him a few times but he is a survivor, I frequently joked with him that he has 9 lives! As anyone who knows Chris knows he has a "goof-ball-ish" sense of humor, he is a jokester, which has helped get him through some of the darkest moments in his life! I believe it to be a defense mechanism and a gift he’s used his whole life to help him deal with the cards he’s been dealt! Even as far back as a young boy when I met him, I was just 15 yrs old, he was always goofing around and making jokes! Chris came from a challenging environment and it took him down a dark path, we had ups and lots of downs. We have always stayed close and I always helped nurture his relationship with Skylar! Me and Sky want him to live out the rest of his life here on earth as stress free as possible without the burden of financial challenges that may arise and focus on his time with loved ones! Chris is a survivor and has been through a lot in his life and he has most often done it alone... We want to help him fulfill dreams and wishes he never imagined, like a visit to see his dad in Atlanta, who he hasn’t seen in over 10 yrs and to add a cherry on top I would love for him to share that trip with his daughter whom he so adores! A simple trip to the Roger Williams zoo or Ogunquit, Maine where him and Skylar have many fond memories or a fishing trip with his friends/family! My goal is to raise enough money so that Chris, with all he’s going through won’t be stressed by the lack of money that might otherwise prevent him from living the rest of his days seeing, being and doing what he wishes and any unforeseen medical bills as well. I wish for them to spend as much time together as possible!
Please help me, help Chris cross off his bucket list, whatever it is his heart desires so he can enjoy the time he has left with us ! Most of us don’t know when or how much time we have left here on earth but we can agree on how precious and fragile life is and how in an instant life can change in a heartbeat! No regrets just Love ❤️
