Help Dawn Fight Off Cancer

I should probably start this by introducing myself. My names Samantha, I’m Dawns daughter for those of you who don’t know me. I never though that I’d be sitting here writing this at the same time my mom is having her first chemotherapy treatment but here we go. It all started August 11th 2018, mom went into the hospital with severe stomach pain and uncontrollable vomiting. The doctors checked her in and did ultrasounds and abdominal x-rays. When they looked at the results they were concerned that her appendix was abnormal and requested an emergency appendectomy. I came to the hospital as soon as I could. What was supposed to be a hour and a half long surgery turned into a four hour rollercoaster. The surgeon came out to speak with me half way during the surgery to notify me that my mom had a large mass that needed to be removed. This would include taking out her appendix and parts of her large/small intestines, he informed me that there was no other option it had to be done. After me and family took turns staying the night with her until she could be released and find out her biopsy results. I got a call on August 15th to come to the hospital as soon as I could. I rushed there and I looked at my mom who had tears falling down her face, I knew that something wasn’t okay. My heart broke with hers, I laid next to her in the bed, she informed me that she has stage 3B colon cancer. The doctor informed us that Surgery looked like she was clear of cancer but chemotherapy is still recommended to reduce the risk of reoccurrence. So here we are, still sitting in the chemotherapy room for her first treatment. My mom deserves complete happiness, she is the most kind, loving, and brave person I’ve ever met. She is my role model and my best friend. For the first time in her life she was overwhelmingly happy, she met the love of her life, and was completely healthy.
