Jan is a nurse at our local community hospital. She has worked for the hospital as a bedside nurse for over 25 years. I have worked with Jan for two years and instantly she was welcoming and helpful. Her personality makes it easy for others to feel comfortable around her.
In October of 2017 she lost her granddaughter, whom she helped raise, to breast cancer at a very young age. This was a traumatic loss for her family. Her granddaughter had young children and left an empty place in the hearts of those who went to school with her such as myself, her friends, and her family.
Shortly after, she suffered the loss of her husband. Through both losses she used up all of her PTO and time off for bereavement.
Today, September 10th is Suicide Prevention day. Over the weekend, Jan again tragically suffered an additional loss of a grandchild to suicide.
We are trying to raise at least $3000 so that Jan can take the time off she needs to focus on grieving all of these losses without having to worry about making ends meet. Any amount is appreciated.
